Mount Elbrus, the Highest Mountain in Europe

Climbing Mount Elbrus in Russia should be a piece of cake. Well, from your South route anyway. The north route about this mountain can be an entirely different challenge. A suitable mountaineering experience unlike say Kilmanjaro. Climbing Elbrus involves a lot of preparation from a physical, mental and logistical viewpoint.

Apparently walking to Russia can take quite a while. So you will intend to make another prefer to improvise. the top form of transportation being what modern man calls the aeroplane. Upon arrival in the awesome capital of scotland- Moscow the thrill and games begin. The very first challenge is obtaining a taxi. Once you have done that, the task of explaining your destination and negotiating an amount is next on the list. No easy task when no one speaks English. The drive-thru to central Moscow takes about 1.5 hours. Manchester airport is approximately 50km outside of central Moscow and the readers are a nightmare. Upon arrival within the hotel, its a fast vodka, shower and... time for it to hit the streets of Moscow. , nor attempt to hit them as well hard as you may come off second best. There are several pretty cool restaurants where you are up against yet another challenge. You may be required to negotiate your path around a menu in Russian and waiter who, you guessed it, only speaks Russian. That which you suggest you need to do is close the eyes, move your finger down and up recption menus and where ever your finger stops... order that. Oh, also keep in mind the vodka. After dinner, a little ramble up to the Red Square to determine the Kremlin is obviously so as. Please don't make an attempt to spray-paint your company name on the Kremlin walls. Somehow the Russian secret service does not agree to this sporting activity.


An early day I'm afraid. Well, I am not really afraid as days aren't anything to get fearful of. The Russian Mafia is one thing being afraid about, but I'll leave that story for the next time. The flight to Mineralyne Vody leaves at 12H00 reaching 14H00. Upon arrival, we stock up the gear to the bus and go ahead and take 1 hour drive-thru to a awesome town called Kislovodsk where we check out our hotel for that evening. Once checked in, we hit the city for dinner as well as a vodka or 10. Discover while having sex by 12H00, please return to the hotel. Breakfast is served. This isn't tennis. It's safe to assume, that nobody disturbs the driver during this period in the game. The united states side out this is so remote. The only real reason there'd be anyone on the highway would have been to climb Elbrus. Being at the beginning of the season, we encountered no-one. After we found its way to camp, we set up the tents, of loaded our gear making for your mess tent for the first taste of mountain food-cabbage soup. Base camp of Elbrus is found at 2400m.
